“You never know someone’s context.”

— Nic Flores

Nic Flores grew up going to church his whole life. He found his identity in service, leadership teams, and the community of friends he had surrounded himself with. However, when push came to shove as an emerging young adult Nic ultimately ended up hurting people close to him. While he was met with forgiveness he moved on and continued with life just to do the same thing again. Facing this hurtful cycle head on, Nic broke down to his newly married wife Alisha that he had been sexually abused by his older brother from the age of 5 into his early teens. Overcome with shame, and past hurt from others abandoning him in his life whenever he made a mistake. Nic stopped going to church and isolated himself. He questioned his view of God, Church, Religion, and the meaning of Life. Through therapy and the support of his wife and friends Nic has been on a path to become the best version of himself.

In 2023 Collision with Nic Flores began as a way of Nic to pay homage to those in his life who through hurtful cycles sat and listened to him with out judgement on why he made the decisions he did. While He found himself back in church after a season of deconstruction, Nic knew that not everyone who left church comes back and that is okay. Because you never know someones context. Nic knew for years he hid the abuse he endured at home from his brother. Knowing that trauma influenced all his decisions in life. And grappling with that personal truth and experience left him wanting nothing to do with God.

”People have their own contexts, very real truths and experiences. So who am I to say something you believe is right or wrong. We all got to where we are from somewhere.” - Nic
